The case fits a broader pattern of attacks targeting high-value individuals, as noted in an FBI-issued public service announcement this past spring. One such incident was a spate of AI-enhanced phishing messages targeting elected officials, business executives, and other high-profile figures by attackers impersonating White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.

In the wake of attacks like this, it is crucial to examine current defenses and understand where they fall short and where they need improvement and advancement.
