Associate Director/Director, Information Security
Axsome Therapeutics · New York, NY
About the role
A hands-on security leader at Axsome Therapeutics, the neuroscience drug maker, in charge of threat detection, incident response and vulnerability management. Hired at Associate Director or Director level, the role directs the cybersecurity team and its service providers, puts into practice the security program that the Head of Information Security owns, and reports to the Sr. Director, Information Security.
The leader runs security monitoring across the MSP, SIEM and IDS/IPS tooling, triages serious alerts personally, sets detection standards and tunes rules, and hunts for threats. In significant incidents they act as incident lead through containment, recovery and forensics, then run the post-incident review and executive reporting. The role also owns the vulnerability management program, manages security vendors and the MSP against SLAs, runs third-party risk management, and oversees awareness training. It supports data protection and insider risk investigations, identity and privileged access controls, and cloud security governance across Microsoft 365, Azure and AWS, and produces KPIs and dashboards for leadership.
Axsome wants eight to ten years in information security, three or more of them leading security operations, incident response or engineering, with hands-on SIEM, EDR, email security and vulnerability tooling, and experience as an incident commander. CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender and KnowBe4 skills, and certifications such as CISSP, CISM or GIAC, are preferred. The role is in the New York City headquarters on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and includes evening and weekend coverage when needed.
