Backend Engineering Manager
Dragos · United States
About the role
Manages the backend engineering team behind the Dragos Platform, the company's OT and ICS cybersecurity product. Its services take in data streams and run detections over them, learn network baselines, reconcile asset records, expose the core platform APIs and coordinate sensor and analytics deployments. The role is remote in the US.
Because backend engineering underpins the whole platform, the manager carries the vision for these components and gives technical input through design, development, testing and release, in close partnership with the tech leads and PMs of each product team. People leadership covers mentoring engineers on technical skills and careers and looking after the health of the backend engineering community across Dragos, while building close ties with other engineering leaders. The team also supports production deployments already in customers' hands, and the manager steps in for occasional development, triage or troubleshooting.
Dragos wants seven or more years leading technical teams, five or more building or leading teams that build microservice applications, and solid hands-on backend and distributed systems engineering, with Rust strongly preferred. Familiarity with Apache Flink, RabbitMQ or HashiCorp Vault, agile cross-functional team leadership, and a background in cybersecurity, OT or ICS are pluses.
