Data Engineering Manager

Dragos  ·  United States

About the role

Leads the data engineering teams that own the Dragos Platform's detection engines, alerting and case management, which convert raw OT and ICS telemetry into findings SOC analysts can work, plus the pipeline that takes in network communications data, baselines it and makes it available. The role is remote in the US.

The manager mentors and grows a team of data engineers, hires to meet the roadmap, and owns the data platform's technical direction at a time when it is consolidating and modernising its datastores: database upgrades, moving off legacy stores and deciding what will power heavy analytics. The role works with product and engineering on data models, schemas and analytics architecture, plans migration and reindex timing for customers who run Dragos on their own premises, drives performance work, and is on the hook for supporting live customer deployments, incidents included. Encouraging the team to adopt AI-assisted development is part of the brief.

Dragos wants seven or more years of engineering management in agile, cross-functional product teams, a strong background in data-intensive systems with PostgreSQL at scale, engineering experience with tools such as Elasticsearch, Airflow, Kubernetes, Python or Rust, and direct experience leading a migration off a legacy datastore such as MongoDB or MariaDB. Shipping software onto customer-managed infrastructure and daily use of AI coding tools are expected; security or OT exposure helps.
