Device Engineering Manager

Dragos  ·  United States

About the role

Leads the device engineering team that builds Dragos's device intelligence: scanning and fingerprinting that finds and classifies every asset on a customer's industrial network, the profiles and probes that pull data from those devices, and actions taken on them such as rotating credentials, updating firmware, managing certificates and controlling configuration changes. The role is remote in the US.

A core part of the team reverse engineers how undocumented devices communicate and turns that knowledge into supported product features. The manager chooses where reverse engineering effort goes across devices and protocols, sets standards for documentation, fingerprints, profiles and automated tests so the work can be reused, and pushes automation of repetitive tasks like profile authoring and firmware and vulnerability data collection. The role also covers mentoring and hiring, scoping and sequencing device support with product managers and tech leads, working with security and threat research and customer-facing teams, owning production support for on-premises deployments, and staying technical enough to read code and debug.

Dragos wants seven or more years of engineering management, a strong background in software that talks to embedded, IoT and OT devices, engineering experience with languages such as Go, TypeScript or Python, direct work with reverse engineers on protocol or firmware analysis, and solid knowledge of network and industrial protocols. Device security experience in cybersecurity, OT or xIoT is strongly preferred.
