Engineering Manager - Identity and Access Management
Adyen · San Francisco
About the role
Leads one of the teams in Adyen's Identity and Access Management group, which handles authentication and authorisation for every human and system user of the payments platform. The engineering manager carries technical responsibility for these systems, where even small outages affect normal operations, and works with the group's two other teams and with product teams across the company.
The manager works with product and engineering to define and ship the next generation of authentication and authorisation at Adyen, with reliability, performance and scale as the main concerns. The role is hands-on: writing code, joining design discussions and reviewing changes to keep standards high. It also covers coaching and mentoring engineers, building a team culture of ownership and open feedback, and managing stakeholders across the business.
Adyen wants at least three years of leading engineering teams, a strong software engineering base with deep system design skills, hands-on Java, Postgres and Redis, and experience running critical, high-load distributed systems. The role is in the San Francisco office, which expects staff on site at least three days a week on average.
