Security Engineering Manager

Leads the Security Engineering team at Beyond Finance, the debt resolution company, as a hands-on technical manager. The team's remit spans cloud infrastructure and application security, hardening of CI/CD pipelines, DSPM and the security posture of SaaS tools. The role is hybrid, based in Chicago.

The manager's main goal is a stronger security posture built on preventive controls, turning security strategy into an engineering roadmap the team can deliver. That means staying close to the technology, configuring cloud security tools, reviewing architecture and acting as the escalation point for hard problems, while owning the security engineering program and how secure the development lifecycle and cloud environment are. The manager plans and runs security engineering projects from start to finish, works with DevOps, engineering and product leaders to get security requirements into their roadmaps, sets the security baseline engineering teams should reach and checks they reach it, and pushes remediation through to completion. Managing the engineers' performance and growth is a core part of the job.

The company wants seven or more years of hands-on security work across cloud, application or DevSecOps security, direct experience managing people in a security or engineering setting, and solid grounding in securing pipelines, handling secrets and secure coding practice. AWS security services, CSPM, CWPP and DSPM tools, SAST, DAST and SCA, Terraform and Spacelift, and identity security for human and non-human accounts are all useful.
