Senior Manager, Platform Security
Gemini · New York, New York; Miami, Florida; Remote (USA)
About the role
Leads Gemini's Platform Security team, whose job is to give the crypto exchange secure-by-design cloud architecture and security technology that engineering teams can adopt easily. The senior manager joins an existing team and is expected to stay hands-on, writing and reviewing Terraform, pipeline and tooling code alongside engineers. The role can be based in New York, Miami or remotely in the US.
The manager sets the team's strategy and roadmap in line with business needs, partner teams and peer security leaders, aiming for steadily more mature capabilities and less manual toil through automation. People leadership covers hiring plans and technical mentoring through pairing and design and code reviews, and the manager acts as the senior escalation point on the hardest architecture and engineering problems. The role also leads development of security policies, standards and guidelines that satisfy GRC and audit needs, defines programme KPIs, favours self-service solutions that cut friction for partner teams, and manages vendors, including build-or-buy decisions.
Gemini wants five or more years leading cloud-native engineering or security teams, ideally on AWS, ten or more years of hands-on technical work with recent coding and infrastructure-as-code experience, and strong AWS, EKS, IAM, Terraform and GitHub Enterprise Cloud skills. Experience scaling a team, leading through organisational change, ideally at a start-up, and applying security frameworks pragmatically is expected.
