Staff+ Software Engineer, Auth & Identity

Staff-plus engineer on Anthropic's Auth & Identity team, which runs the authentication, authorization and identity platform behind the API, Claude Code, Claude.ai and enterprise products. Sign-ins, API keys, OAuth tokens, access checks and organisation records all run through it, and the team is now defining identity and access for autonomous agents as well as people and service accounts. The engineer owns high-traffic systems end to end and helps set technical direction, with current work on credentials for long-running agents, a unified low-latency authorization layer, first-class identities for service accounts and agents, multi-region resilience, and deeper SSO and SCIM integration.

Anthropic wants eight or more years building backend or platform systems at scale, ideally in identity or auth, familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, JWTs or policy engines like Cedar and OPA, and experience with live migrations.
